Newsletter Winter 2021

Welcome to St. Williams on Long Point! This lovely church was built in 1890 by William West Durant and, in 2005, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

2021 was a huge success and we are looking forward to a great 2022.

Concerts by and on the Lake

For many of you the concerts are an important part of summer. Here is a quick overview:

  • 6 concerts
  • 432 attendees
  • $1,413 from the pie sales

While our artists come from NY, VA, and NJ, some come from our own backyard. We just want to give a shoutout to Bruce Matthews who did our opening concert. Bruce is from the North end of Bluff point. Wonderful music Bruce! Bob Faulkner and his band, Sixty Shades of Grey, also played this summer. It was a fun evening of rock and roll! They donated their performance, and we thank them! Bob is the husband of Sharon Faulkner, one of our Board members, and they live on the outlet of Raquette Lake.

If you want to hear them again, they play in Long Lake during the summer.

Thank you to our Summer Caretakers

A big thank you goes out to Patti Freeman and Bob Thayer for all of their time and hard work at St. Williams. It is without question that their dedication to St. Williams is why folks felt so welcome.

Our Volunteers…are the greatest!

With the help of volunteers, many projects were completed. A big thank you goes out to all the volunteers who have donated their time and expertise to make St. William’s what it is today. This year’s projects have included:

  • Offering barge rides to our concerts
  • Putting up posters for the concerts
  • Selling pies at concerts
  • Planting and caring for flowers and cutting the grass weekly
  • Designing and building cupboards to replace the closets in the Main House
  • Repairing the steps on two buildings
  • Rebuilding and upgrading the Bunk House bathroom/ laundry room
  • Installing cupboards in apartment kitchen
  • Repairing the docks at the Main House and in front of church.

And of course, opening and closing the camp would take forever without the help, care, and laughter of our volunteers. Thank you! Another major project this year included upgrading the electrical service in the Main House and the Bunk House, as well as adding wiring for the generator hook up. Thanks Randy Matson!

We are already planning for 2022. We plan to have 6 concerts and of course there will be many projects!
